Ambassador of Saint Lucia Visits NFU, Aims to Deepen Educational Exchange

National Formosa University (NFU) held an international lecture on Thursday, April 10, and had the honor of welcoming H.E. Ambassador Dr. Robert Lewis of Saint Lucia, one of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies, to deliver a speech. The ambassador shared insights into the history, culture, and educational development of Saint Lucia, with the goal of promoting educational and cultural exchange between Taiwan and Saint Lucia.

NFU President Dr. Hsinn-Liang Chang, in his welcoming remarks, noted that Saint Lucia is a country of stunning natural beauty and rich cultural diversity, and is also the homeland of two Nobel Prize laureates. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage in this meaningful exchange, emphasizing that such interactions not only deepen mutual understanding of diverse cultures but also serve as a vital opportunity to foster cultural and academic cooperation.

Ambassador Lewis had the chance to test-ride an autonomous vehicle and observed the university’s “Smart Machinery and Precision Cutting Workshop” as well as the “Biotechnology Pilot Plant.” He expressed high appreciation for NFU’s dual-track talent cultivation model, which combines professional aviation training with degree programs and aircraft maintenance engineer certification.

The ambassador highlighted the long-standing friendship between Taiwan and Saint Lucia, noting that both nations place great importance on talent development. He expressed hope that NFU will continue to offer diverse programs and learning resources to attract more Saint Lucian students to study in Taiwan, thereby further strengthening bilateral educational ties and friendly relations.
