Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn College), invited by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education to conduct academic exchanges in Taiwan, visited National Formosa University (NFU) on November 19. The delegation, including the Vice President and the Vice President for International Affairs, toured several of NFU’s distinctive laboratories and formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a sister-school partnership.
Both institutions are committed to promoting hands-on, practice-oriented education and innovative teaching, with the shared goal of creating more real-world learning opportunities for students. Penn College noted that the two universities share aligned visions in technical and vocational education as well as industry–academia collaboration, both aiming to cultivate highly skilled graduates with strong employability. The delegation also expressed sincere appreciation to Taiwan’s Ministry of Education for facilitating this collaboration.
The visit focused on the aerospace field, with tours of NFU’s aerospace- and automation-related facilities, including the Aviation Maintenance Training Center and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Research Laboratory. These visits highlighted NFU’s achievements in aviation technology and interdisciplinary integration with artificial intelligence. By combining the strengths of both institutions, future cooperation will expand in areas such as joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and practice-based courses, marking a new milestone in Taiwan–U.S. technical education collaboration.
In recent years, NFU has actively promoted overseas exchange opportunities, sending outstanding students to the United States for exchange studies and internships. Partner institutions include The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona). Support from the Ministry of Education’s Study Abroad Scholarship Program has further encouraged students to broaden their global perspectives.
With a long-standing commitment to international collaboration, NFU’s partnership with Pennsylvania College of Technology not only reflects the shared emphasis on cross-border learning and practical skills development, but also demonstrates a mutual vision of advancing global talent mobility and international cooperation. Both institutions look forward to deepening their partnership through continued exchanges, collaborative research, and technical training, creating diverse and impactful outcomes for future international collaboration.
