To expand educational exchange and collaboration between National Formosa University (NFU) and secondary schools in Malaysia, and to strengthen international academic connections, Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Yang Shou-Yin, representing the President, signed an Education Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 3 with five independent high schools in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, officially establishing partnership relationships to jointly cultivate outstanding international talent.
The partner schools include Chung Hwa No. 1 Secondary School, Chung Hwa No. 3 Secondary School, Chung Hwa No. 4 Secondary School, Batu Kawa Min Lit Secondary School, and Serian Min Chung Secondary School. Through this cooperation mechanism, the partner schools will recommend academically excellent and well-rounded students to pursue further studies in Taiwan. This initiative aims to create more pathways for higher education and practical development opportunities for outstanding students, while encouraging them to continue their studies and seek employment in Taiwan.
The cooperation framework includes a student recommendation system, under which students recommended by partner schools and demonstrating strong academic performance may apply for tuition and miscellaneous fee subsidies as well as housing subsidies, in accordance with university regulations after enrollment. These measures are intended to reduce financial burdens and enhance students’ willingness to study in Taiwan.
NFU has long placed great emphasis on the recruitment and cultivation of overseas Chinese students. Currently, many outstanding students from Malaysia are enrolled at the university across diverse academic and professional fields, delivering excellent academic performance and showcasing NFU’s strengths in technical and vocational education as well as practice-oriented talent development.
